Abstract
Experiments were done to see if copper could have been smelted in a campfire or kiln. Malachite was put inside a pile of charcoal in a hot campfire for several hours, and no metal was produced. The same experiment done in a model of a simple kiln made out of a clay dome produced metallic copper. -- AATA
