These date from the early 14th century and are on lime plaster. Some time between 1453 and 1510 areas were covered with paint by the Turks and later most of the decorated surfaces were covered with layers of whitewash. After 6 years of work, removal of these layers is nearly completed. Loose plaster was reattached with size and thin gesso. Paint was reattached with gelatine size and gold leaf with polyvinyl acetate. Losses have been inpainted with a slightly lighter value of the same colour; no attempt has been made to reconstruct lost elements of the design. Egg tempera was used as medium. The question of a general coating is under consideration.
