Abstract
There are several processes in the treatment of paintings in which the application of pressure is necessary. These are the treatments of cupping, flaking paint and blisters, relining, marouflage and transfer. The disadvantages of the hot iron can be overcome with the use of atmospheric pressure. Examples are given.
