The monuments of Angkor are built in a variety of styles. Consequently, problems of restoration differ from one building to the next. Bad building technique has been a frequent cause of decay. Restoration methods have been inspired by the method of anastylose perfected by the Dutch in Java. Traditional techniques are also useful.
