Abstract
The authentication of a bronze statue, Der Juengling vom Magdalensberg (Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna), is summarized. Discussed are the patina, alloy composition, metallographic examination, and core studies (carried out by petrographic analysis, differential thermal analysis, x-ray diffraction analysis, and thermoluminescence). The test results indicate that the statue is of the Renaissance and not of Roman origin. Tables, photographs.
