Abstract
This paper describes some of the properties of oil-tanned leather and how those properties influenced the methods chosen to clean and support a group of North American Indian moccasins. A method is described for bleaching chamois leather, and dyeing it using the dyes commonly used by textile conservators, to use it as a support for buckskin damaged by insects.
