Most of the palm leaf manuscripts in the Royal Library of Copenhagen were desiccated. Some experiments were made by the author in order to study the absorption capacity of a palm leaf. A consolidation treatment was devised, in which the leaves were sprayed with walnut oil; this would be absorbed into the parenchyma, and form a film on the cells.
