Abstract
Textile conservation needs conservators with the necessary training to devise individual treatments for each object according to its condition, composition, and place in history. Examples of conservation problems faced at the Textile Conservation Centre of London are presented: the choice of an adequate adhesive for the conservation of a tapestry and a child's dress underlined the difficulty of finding a product which demonstrates long-term efficacy and is reversible. In certain cases the application of simple conservation techniques can avoid unpredictible reactions of adhesives and consolidants. See AATA 19-1527.
