Abstract
Exhibition and catalogue attempt to clarify the confusion surrounding Remington's bronzes. Demonstrates the methods of casting and details the intricacies of telling forgeries from genuine casts, autograph works from those cast after his death. Four of Remington's best-known works, The Bronco Buster, Cheyenne, The Scalp, and The Mountain Man, are featured. Catalogue includes essays on the early history of bronze casting in America, Remington as a sculptor, and the casting histories of the four Remington sequences in the exhibition, as well as a checklist of the known locations of all original Remington bronzes.
