In October of 1984, several conservators had an opportunity to visit the restoration work now ongoing at the Statue of Liberty. They were able to inspect the exterior of the skin from the platforms provided by the extensive enshrouding scaffolding and ask questions of the site construction supervisor about the structural work on the interior. This is a slide-illustrated report of their visit and what they learned about the work.
