Until recently the paper suction table has developed haphazardly since M. K. Weidner first described it. Functional design has changed little since the original, because there was inadequate comprehension of the phenomena one hoped to manipulate. Described are theory and experimental data that may aid in the rational design of suction tables. Parts are applicable to the various tables that use air pressure in conservation.
