Most galleries in the Victoria and Albert Museum, including the temporary exhibition gallery, are not air conditioned so it is important to improve the conditions, locally, within showcases wherever possible. This report describes the experiments which were carried out with silica gel in standard and specially built showcases of a size commonly used in the V&A, with the showcasesstanding in rooms where there was no control of conditions other than heating in winter. -- AATA
