Abstract
Recent progress in radiocarbon dating by accelerator mass spectrometry is reviewed mainly with reference to the Tandetron mass spectrometer with 3MV tandem accelerator at Nagoya University, manufactured by General Ionex Corporation. The spectrometer has been tested for carbon sample targets which were graphitized under high pressure of 60 kb and 1300°C for about 10 minutes. The 14C dating can be made within the error of 0.5%. -- AATA
