Abstract
Among the water-logged Anglo-Scandinavian deposits in Coppergate, York, there were several leather shoes. The condition of the shoes and their conservation by freeze-drying from aqueous glycol are described. The choice of Pliatex from a selection of new adhesives for the restoration of the shoes was made following various ageing texts. The methods used to reshape the shoes and the use of the adhesive are described.
