Abstract
Section I describes the career of Max Uhle, the pioneer of Andean archaeology. Section II presents an account of the settlement at Pachacamac, near the Peruvian coast. Section III, Technical Studies, describes the work done on two mummy bundles brought by Uhle from pachacamac; it elucidates some details of pre-Inca funerary and medical practices by means of x-radiography of the mummies.
