Abstract
Functional monomers such as acrylic acid can be incorporated into a polyolefin copolymer. The resulting thermoplastic copolymer, or terpolymer, now has adhesion capabilities to dissimilar substrates such as glass on metal, improved bond strengths of the specific polyolefin material to itself, and a chemical coupling effect to reinforcing additives. This report describes developmental work on the use of these materials in metal/plastic laminates, metal coatings, hot-melt adhesives, and chemical coupling to reinforcing matenals. -- AATA
