The Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont, is comprised of many New England historic structures, housing a large and eclectic collection of American folk art. To supplement its good housekeeping program, the museum has implemented several inspection/safe treatment projects. Dermestid beetles and colonies of several species of carpenter ants and wood-boring beetles were found and identified during one inspection. These were treated with Dursban L.O. , applied as a 0.5% aqueous solution of chlorpyfiros, and Dursban 1-D, a dust containing 1.0% chlorpyfiros. Infested textiles are routinely fumigated with PDB mothballs.
