Abstract
Laboratory tests of record wear, measuring the increase of noise and distortion in successive plays have shown that a coddled disk cleaned before each playing sounds almost as lush at the 200th playing as at the first. But a grimy, neglected disk may scrape itself out in less than twenty plays. Cleaning devices and agents for records are discussed in this article.
