Abstract
This study shows the first results of an experimental analysis undertaken on Marmorino specimens extracted from 16th and 17th century buildings in the historical center of Venice. This study was carried out in an interdisciplinary manner, based on historical research and documents in the State Archives and is meant to suggest a suitable method for a physical, chemical, and mechanical characterization of intonacoes from various historical periods. The results obtained show that the intonacoes were made with a specific technological knowledge of the materials used. See also AATA 17-660 and 19-1792.
