A description of the condition and consolidation/restoration needs of the first sector of the third defensive line of the northern fortification of Tharros. Many treatments were considered. Conventional consolidation with cement or epoxide resins was ruled out for a number of reasons. Instead, a system of suspended cloths, supported and fastened by a framework of metal studs and tie rods, was set up to protect the walls from the action of wind, rain, and sun until a permanent solution to the problem could be devised.
