In 1975 the Consejo Nacional para la Protección de la Antigua Guatemala asked the author to coordinate the establishment of a restoration center. The council's resources were limited; but through a combination of indigenous talent, voluntary work, and support from both public and private sources, the venture was successful and influenced the establishment of other workshops in Guatemala City. A number of restorers from Guatemala and the Central American region have received training. -- AATA
