From extensive osteological material (208 maxillae, 336 mandibulae) of the human populations of the territory of Slovenia during the 14th century from the necropolis of Ptuj, and a Slavic population of the 7th to 11th century found in the necropolis of Bled, Zelece and Kranj, four samples were found with the symptoms of orthodontic anomalies. Gnathometric and x-ray examination confirmed the conditions. The anomalies were either crowdings in the lower intercanine section, or retained, i.e. supernumerary teeth. Orthodontic anomalies occurred less frequently than in modern man. -- AATA
