In the early days of movies, the camera operator was responsible for all of the work from lighting to film processing. problems working with orthochromatic film with an ASA of 24 are briefly described. In 1912 Bell and Howell introduced the perforator to standardize the shape and number of sprocket holes. The need for standardization affected the development of cinematography, examples of which are cited. -- AATA
