The simulation of flooding gave measurable results for preparing standard flood-damaged materials. Amounts of water absorbed by books loosely or closely packed, or with coated or uncoated paper are compared. Freeze-thaw vacuum, interleave-air and solvent extraction processes are said to offer great potential to dry coated and uncoated paper books after they have been wetted and frozen. Further experimentation is recommended to measure the true value of this mass drying operation for a wide variety of materials.
