Abstract
Conservation work after the Florence flood is reviewed briefly. The application of science to art preservation is considered generally. Dr. Robert Feller's Mellon Institute project is discussed including his work with synthetic varnishes, pigment fading, preventive maintenance, effect of light on art objects, and color spectrophotometry. Other conservators are quoted with regard to reversibility, holographic inter-ferometry, removal of overpaint, electrolytic reduction, and barium hydroxide stone treatment. -- AATA
