The author describes the establishment of an archival conservation laboratory in the newly built Ohio Historical Society building. The lab must eventually be capable of handling a full line of archival materials as well as photographs and recording tapes. These materials mustbe made available to the public so modified conservation techniques must be applied. Vast quantities of mundane archives are often archivally laminated on polyester encapsulated, and stored in Library of Congress phase boxes.
