A survey of the non-destructive methods of analysis applied to the study of antiquities is given. Some results of optical emission spectrometric analysis and atomic absorption spectrometric analysis of nine Indian metallic objects (eight of bronze and one of silver) and results of x-ray diffraction analysis of the corrosion products on nine ancient Indian bronzes by the author are included.
