Abstract
A brief description of the normal mode Nd:YAG laser, its operating conditions, and its electrical input and energy output, is included in this report on cleaning eight samples of encrusted marble at the Laboratorio San Gregorio, Venice, Octo. 1-15, 1976. It is stated that the laser produced a pleasing antique appearance in R5 the time required to clean with a scalpel. It is suggested that this laser may be useful in separating overpaint layers of different colors.
