Abstract
Scanning electron microscope investigations show a typical corrosion by which the crystals themselves are dissolved to skeletons whereas the intergrain spaces are only slightly widened. Corrosion tests on impregnated marble samples show that the used methacryl resin does not prevent the growth of gypsum after the sulfuric acid attack.
