Reports the restoration of a 16th-century carved walnut cassone. The front has deep carvings with palmetto, volute, and bean motifs, and two masks at either side. It was in poor condition, with numerous missing parts. It was cleaned with neutral abrasive and, in parts, with scalpels. Animal glue and wooden pins were used to consolidate the less stable areas and some of the missing carving was reintegrated. Xylamon was used as a biocide, Paraloid B-72 as a consolidant, and beeswax for infilling and polishing.
