Abstract
Small fragments of animal hair were found as the core of gilded silver threads in a set of archaeological silk textiles dated to 1200-1300. The pattern of the weave can only partially be detected, and the nature of the hair cannot be determined conclusively. X-ray emission analysis of the metal was carried out and the results were compared to similar analyses in an attempt to determine the origin of the thread.
