Abstract
More than 150 mammoth molar teeth were re-conserved by the author. Some were recent discoveries while most were museum stock found in a state of decomposition. Premature desiccation of the fossil or unfavorable storage conditions will always expedite decomposition. Saturation of the specimens with a varnish composed of pyroxylin and amyl acetate ( Zaponlack ) with an addition of special coating agents was found to be the most suitable conservation method. Saturation was performed by vacuum steeping.
