Abstract
The baptismal font was probably built in the 13th century with reinvestment flagstone from Roman sarcophagi and 6 pre-Roman flagstones in relief -- part of church furniture, probably from Split Cathedral. The treatment was done from 1973 to 1975 with interruptions. The pnncipal aim was to have an easy dismounting without endangering the pre-Roman flagstones. This was accomplished by joining the flagstones at one place by means of bronze joints with screws and screw-nuts in the pre-existing holes; the lower border of the flagstone was fixed on a limestone cast. The stone was cleaned of dirt layers, wax and cement traces by mechanical procedure and washed with distilled water.
