The possibility of consolidation of small stone objects by impregnation with acrylates and free radical polymerization is investigated. As impregnation agent a mixture of methyl methacrylate and ethyl acrylate (50/ 50) is used. The influence of monomer concentration, initiator concentration and polymerizing temperature was investigated. Temperatures higher than 65 degrees c are necessary to obtain good results. Hardness tests and porosity tests show the improvement of the physical properties of the treated samples.
