Abstract
Many paintings, particularly modern art objects, decay rapidly because of faulty techniques or improper use of materials. The causes of such decay are discussed in light of modern polymer chemistry and the latest research on the behavior of paint films. Suggests preventive measures to protect such art objects from decay before they are completely destroyed by their own inherent defects.
