Abstract
With the rapid growth of air freight operations the advantages of transporting works of art by sea are often neglected. A consignment of seventeen paintings was transported in September 1977 from Cape Town to Southampton on board RMS Windsor Castle. Sea transport cut costs and provided other benefits.
