Abstract
Coating compositions were based on an aqueous dispersion of polyvinyl acetate including polyvinyl alcohol as the protective colloid. Film-forming properties could be markedly improved by the addition of oxidizing agent to destroy the free polyvinyl alcohol, preferably up to 15% K<sub>2</sub>Cr<sub>2</sub>O and 30% H<sub>3</sub>PO<sub>4</sub> both based on free polyvinyl alcohol. -- AATA
