Abstract
This paper is intended to give a comprehensive survey: stress is laid more on the practical work than on open methodological questions. The sexing of adults should be successful in three quarters of the cases by means of morphological traits; some measurements may be used in addition. Criteria of age are: for children, development of the dentition and, as a supplementary method, diameters of long bones; for juveniles, ossification of epiphyses. Ageing of adults is done less precisely and more problematically by suture closure, a few other age changes such as histology and arthritic changes may serve as corrective indicators. For each cremation the possibility of a multiple burial is to be checked on the basis of double skeletal fragments, strong robusticity and size differences, and weight. -- AATA
