Abstract
Lacquer objects are made in Japan by frequently coating different materials with the clear or pigmented juice of Rhus vernicifera D. C. by means of special tools and working techniques. The surface is decorated by various methods: by strewing metal powders into the lacquer, by inlaying various materials and engraving or carving. -- AATA
