Abstract
The lacquers are produced by mixing nitrocellulose with plasticisers, optionally with resins, in a suitable blend of solvents. They have good adhesion to metals, can withstand extreme temperatures, and show good gloss retention; they are also resistant to grease and petrol. The components of a typical nitrocellulose lacquer are outlined, and research on reduction of viscosity is discussed. -- AATA
