Abstract
Concordant radiocarbon and aspartic acid racemization dates have been obtained for several Holocene aboriginal skeletons from coastal southern California sites. The authors suggest that racemization dating is valid even with microenvironmental changes if the D/L aspartic ratio and the average temperature of exposure can be determined from known dates in order to calibrate the K asp (aspartic acid racemization constant). Several examples of dating employing this method are given. -- AATA
