Detailed, in a series of letters, is the treatment of daguerreotype case. Since it turned out to be gold plated copper, it was successfully cleaned by treating with a hydrochloric acid solution, followed by neutralization in a sodium carbonate solution and washing in distilled water, with warm air drying. -- AATA
