The author presents a first series of experiments on protective coatings for metal objects. These experiments were carried out in specific climatic conditions (saline fog, ultraviolet rays, thermal shock), and were aimed at finding out which protective coatings were best suited to the conservation of metal archaeological objects. Research is at an early stage, and the number of products tested is still too small to yield definitive information; however, some results are surprising. -- AATA
