Abstract
This article discusses the treatment of heavily mould-degraded parchment documents. One possible conservation treatment is to leafcast the parchment. Two special techniques are described in detail and compared. A technique introduced by Wouters is followed by a method applied by Giovannini. The characteristics of these two leafcasting methods in terms of surface texture, shrinkage and tension behaviour and applicability when confronted with the above-described type of objects are compared. Some critical effects are described and a case study is given. -- SCMRE
