Abstract
A conservation problem in a collection of African spears: African craftsmen often coat their finished metal work with animal fat to prevent tarnishing or corrosion. This fat had deteriorated to produce free fatty acids and finally copper salts of the ffa's. Remedy is suggested. -- ICCROM
