More than 30,000 titles of publications on the scientific examination and conservation of works of art have been filed in the Rathgen Research Laboratory. In order to inform researchers and conservators about the already existing knowledge in this field, bibliographies on materials of works of art will be published regularly. The first contribution lists 238 publications on gold dealing first of all with gold from prehistory, antiquity, South American ethnology and coins. -- AATA
