To safeguard and perform research into Maya architectural heritage, inventory work is necessary in order to systematize study and gain deeper knowledge of the buildings. New information technologies have enabled designing an electronic index card with great advantages over traditional cards. The design and contents of the card have been specified to give priority to aspects of reading and handling the information, which is in turn left open, able to be extended by future documentary contributions. The card enables qualitative and quantitative identification, description and analysis of Maya architecture and opens up new possibilities in the administration of information, such as the creation of databases or their dissemination over the Internet.
