This article describes the work carried out on the outsize paintings that decorate the ceilings of the Galeria Dorada del Palau Ducal de Gandia in the process of their restoration, that is, their removal, transfer and relocation. The dimensions of the works themselves, the way they have been built into the Palace ceilings and their relationship to the architectural environment has led to plan a series of complex and careful interventions to carry out restoration. All this has meant the constant and permanent search for solutions that could solve all the problems which have arisen when restoring this kind of work. Furthermore, this article tries to analyze the methods and criteria used in each of these operations, focusing on the idea that each stage in the restoration process is the result of a previous reflection and discussion.
