Abstract
Valencia’s San Carlos Fine Arts Academy, specifically its Flower and Ornate Arts section, had an influence over the 18th and 19th centuries on the designs of Valencia’s ceramic industry, and on another industry of great importance at the time – silk manufacturing. Jose Ferrer, who arrived in Valencia in 1767, after having his training at Count Aranda’s Royal Ceramic Factory, was one of the first painters to join the Flower Room, and this artist can indeed be considered on of the initiators of Valencian flower painting.
