The history of a country, a city or a house is not only something written in books, but in all of the material remains enduring from a particular age. The drawings, paintings or graffiti left by men and women on the walls of a house give us a good idea of them and their circumstances. In this case the techniques for removal of mural paintings enable a portion of the history materialised on the walls themselves to be preserved. This is the case with a house occupied during the Spanish Civil War by the republican army and later on by Franco’s forces. This place provided lodgings for the Requetes, as shown by certain graffiti left by the soldiers during the time they were quartered here and which have been recovered thanks to the treatment for removing mural painting.
